Protecting against Autostart worm today is no big deal, protecting against
the virus that comes out next week, next month or next year is the reason to
use virus protection on a Mac or any other computer.

I use Norton on both my Macs and PCs, it catches plenty of Word macro
viruses and I know that when the big Mac virus does come, they will have
definitions for it as fast as any other antivirus company will. It may not
be fast enough, but it might. Having no protection at all will definitely
not be fast enough.

Just to bring things back to the original frame of reference (and I
hope you wrong, Dan, but even if you are dead on) if someone wrote a
virus for any Mac OS today, none of the virus software on the market
would be of any benefit until someone came up with new definitions
for the virus.

That being said, if having a virus software on his Mac will help
Samuel sleep better at night, the only non-Microsoft OS 9 viruses of
recent years were SevenDust and Autostart Worm. He can use Agax
(freeware) to protect against both. It should still be available on
