Just an update. I've been using the machine like this for a bit and have
found a slight problem. The machine appears to freeze due to the extra
heat generated by cpu running the higher clock speed.

BUT! I also see that the cooling fan _never_ turns on during normal
operation. It's also never turned on when the cpu was clocked at 250MHz.
I've reset the PMU before, and when the machine powers on for the first
time (green light for about 3 seconds) the fan also spins up. I can feel
the air coming from the vents on the left rear corner so I'm confident
saying the fan isn't faulty.

I figure that since the fan isn't turning on, the heat is just building
up in the heatsink and surrounding parts making the cpu overheat and
stop functioning.

Did some searching but haven't found a suitable explanation what
controls the fan or if it can be enabled/disabled via software.
Currently the machine is running 10.3.5 (if that helps anyone).

If anyone can shed some light on the matter, I'm sure alot of
people would be interested to hear.
