On the US Qwerty keyboard, yes, the "Option" key is next to the "Command" key. Although it might depend on the keyboard mapping you have. Since you're using OS X in another language, maybe you have a different keyboard mapping than the US mapping and maybe the "Option" key is not next to the "Command" key.
