That was with only 384MB. It ran Panther from January to May this year. Please don't try and detract my personal experience. My experiences does not detract yours.

Without me having to look at documentation and >browse through forums. If you're were using an alpha what can you complain about? I had more problems with Jaguar than Panther with XPFa11, a14 and I think a17. a9 and some other versions was not very good at all. Everything worked for me, including the PCMCIAbased airport card, except for built in sound input that was distorted. For me Panther was noticeable faster than Jaguar. Especially considering there was no graphics hardware accelaration support. >Keep in mind that I >use my Wallstreet mostly for Final Cut Pro, Quark Xpress, and >Dreamweaver and Photoshop, and the OSX versions of all these programs >are quite silly on a Wallstreet II. I used Dreamweaver MX (not the 6.1 update) and Photoshop 7 (only small images) of those and OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner, Bbedit 7, Jedit, Script Debugger, Apache 2, MySQL, PHP 4, Fast Track Schedule 8, iView Mediepro, PowerMail 4, Ragtime Solo and XCode (a bit painful, but worked) and WO 5.1 Developer. Another focus perhaps. Most of this WOULDN'T RUN under OS 9, mind you. A 15% slower machine is a small price to pay IMHO. But except for a few apps, I could have real work done and my experience when booted into OS 9 was that the machine didn't feel faster overall, rather I was reminded of all the "wait states" OS 9 enforces upon you. Don't get me started on crashes.... Of course my Powerbook G4 / 400 is a lot snappier and I want a 1Ghz, but one step at a time. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
