Or Civilization II. It ran well on my 1400 with 233/G3 upgrade. Still one of my favorite games.

I second that emotion, but if you shut off all the bells and whistles on your 'book you might like Civ III, it's the best. I still play it once in a while. If you like adventure games that don't require a lot of power then the Blades of Avernum series is good, and lots of people make free mods for it.
