There are a few places that will sell you MCE replacement drives, but
they're very expensive, almost as much as the total value of your Pismo.
Other alternatives include the purchase of a bare CDRW drive on places like
eBay, removing the old DVD-ROM drive from the expansion module, put the new
drive in and try to fit the faceplate, which I think so far, besides the MCE
drive, no 3rd party drive will have a matching or fitting faceplate. If that
doens't bother you and you think you can manipulate a few small screws, then
this might be the cheapest solution.

If you search in the G-Books list mail archive, you should be able to find a
few CDRW drives that are known to be compatible with the Pismo. You can also
check on XLR8YourMac.com for drive compatibility.

I wouldn't recommend getting a DVDRW drive. It will be pretty much useless
in a Pismo to burn any DVDs. Maybe data DVD, but certainly not video DVDs,
due to the lack of power muscle in a Pismo. Plus the cost of the drive might
be prohibitive. Might as well sell the Pismo and get a newer used PowerBook
with an Apple SuperDrive as it may be cheaper in the long run...
