RE: Ram increase....Been there, done that...Went to 1 gig ram right 
after I got the Pismo...My LG died earlier this year and the replacement 
that A/C sent died the same way after only playing about 10 DVD's....A/C 
told me I was S.O.L. BUT I could buy a new one from them for $379 or 
so...Both units will mount/play a CD but will not see a DVD at all 
just keeps spinning up and down several times before finally stopping 
and then I have to hit the eject tab on the side...Also did the cleaner 
and compressed air bit but no joy... I would like to see about getting 
another unit but need it to fit using the same face plate I am not into 
cutting plstic etc to try to make it look/fit properly.. OS X 10.3.6 
10GB HD-1 GB Ram
