the information on the drive was not erased. for some reason i could not see it. when i tried to install os 9 again, sure enough, the hd shoed up with all its contents. the only problem was that i could not change the startup disk. the option key at startup was unresponsive. i did an archive and install of os 10.3 and i was up and running, except os 9 is gone again! help.
