Thanks for your response!

The actual data I was looking for were the mail folders, messages, rules, etc, which I finally found in the Documents folder. I wasn't interested in any other program or user settings/data from the old Powerbook.

I'm good to go now, though. All I did was install Office 2004 on the new iBook, turn on file sharing on the old Powerbook, then import all the data I wanted into Entourage 2004 by selecting the data files on the Powerbook over the network. It worked great! I then imported the same data from Entourage into Apple Mail, just so my wife can use both programs and eventually go with whichever one she likes best.

Thank all of you for your help! The iBook is now loaded, configured, and ready to go for my wife's birthday this Friday! (Yep, she's a New Year's baby!) Actually, I'm having some issues with the Airport Extreme card and integration with Active Directory, but both are minor issues that I may bring up in other topic discussions.

Thanks again, and Happy New Year!!

Mike

data? If you're talking about email, I think all you need with entourage
is dragging the folders to the desktop, which will create a unix mailbox
(I think). These will import into Entourage nicely, I'm pretty sure.

What *is* the data? There are lots of info that you may need, like login
and passwords. Make a list of what you can think of, with details of your
terms for it, in what app you use the data.
I think you should *backup* all the data and keep the old machine intact
for a while in case you forget something, but don't worry about where it
is for now. Try and remember first what you need to bring. Most OS 9
prefs and so on, won't be exportable and you need to set them anew in
your OS X apps.
