I would be really tempted to make a "custom" PB if I first had to paint it. I think bright shiny red would be awesome on one of those... but of course, color is a matter of taste. From my "taste point of view" though, I really think that a Mac with the real sleek and simple design it has, would really suit some simple, bright color if you were to go in another direction than the light colors they use originally these days... I would for sure choose from one of the colors in the multicolored Apple logo (all those would look great with the white logo too!)... When I look at a PB or iBook of today, I automatically think Danish design... :) He-he, it would be neat having a computer you could give a buff with car polish a couple of times a year to keep it real shiny and pretty... :) (I am considering doing the same with my iBook, to make sure it won't get scratches, I just have to make sure what I can use on the plastic)...
I agree, it would be really stylish with a matching keyboard... I guess that if you used the car paint they use for bumpers and such, get the preparation work done right with the right primer, and also get it done at the right temperature and such, it could be successful. But it would surely be an awful job sanding all those tiny keys, yuck... The thing I really don't know, is how you would get the characters put on right. Would you first do the color then use transferable characters and finally give it a few coatings of clear varnish to protect it? I mean, hand painting the numbers wouldn't look too good, I think (even if you have a real great hand writing). Using templates wouldn't be too easy either, would it? It's so tiny and thin... And it has to be really strong, to take the beating a keyboard takes... If it can't end out perfect, I think you still would be much better off with an original, Swedish keyboard... You would most likely still have the neatest PB on the planet... :)

While you are at it, you also have the chance to get a unique PB, why not go for a different color? How about
shiny bright red?
That's my point precisely, a different coloured PowerBook would be really cool, but even cooler if the keys were the same colour.
There is automotive paint which is strong enough!
