Laurent,

I have used both HP and Canon scanners, as well as others. From my experience it depends on your use of the scanner. If you are using the scanner occasionally for "home" level scans then HP scanners will work great, however if you require more frequent usage and "pro" level features, then I would choose and recommend a Canon product. I have had great experiences with Canon products and definitely will continue to use and recommend Canon products.

I'm starting to look for a scanner to use with my PowerBook 17 running OS X
10.3.7. Microtek is ruled out. I had previous bad experience with them,
mostly lack of support. I was thinking about HP and maybe Canon. Any good
recommendation for a scanner supported under OS X? USB 2.0 or FireWire.

Thanks!

-Laurent.
