Wallstreet- and Lombard-series machines aren't powerful enough to decode DVDs in software -- that's why DVD-capable models were fitted with the hardware decoders. OS X does not support hardware DVD decoding on these models, so it's just not possible to play DVDs under OS X. OS 9 DVD playback, obviously, will continue to work -- but that's not what the original poster was asking.

Cheers,
Ben

Mplayer is another non-Apple decoder, but this and most likely VLC will
require more horsepower than any Wallstreet can offer, unless processor
upgraded. I get serious jitters when trying to watch DVDs on my 400MHz
Lombard with 512 ram on Mplayer, though in OS9 DVD playback is gorgeous
(mine has the decoder on the board, but I'm sure the Wallstreet decoder card
will be just as good.
