Julie - Heat doesn't seem to be an issue with the Hitachi 7200rpm drive. My Pismo isn't noticeably hotter, nor does the fan ever come on.
For me, the increase in performance was completely worth the upgrade. I've been running it more than a year with no issues. -Sam on 2/27/05 4:06 PM, JS wrote: > i'm looking to get a new internal hd for my Pismo and am waffling > between the 7200 and 5400 speeds. my main concern is heat. while i > know the 7200 won't overheat, i'm wondering about the long term side > effects of running hotter than the 4200 Pismo's were designed to > handle.
