Hopefully with the ibook I can get rid of the two machines I use for my home business as well, providing I can get my cutter to work off it. Worst case I keep the 6500 which isn't worth much on the open market anyway!
Right now the book is a bit slower at only 256mb. When will Apple put real ram in their machines? <sigh> I upgraded the desktop to 1gb right off the bat.
I have 2 iPods compliments of my SO. The 5gb 1G when it first came out, and then xmas 03 for some reason he decided I needed a bigger one so he got me the 40gb 3G. I hadn't even filled the 5gb yet. Anyway, I do take them out blading, biking, running etc and even in the car, depending on where I go, I'm a nervous wreck with them. I think the Shuffle will put my mind at ease some. If he had bought it for me without the 'book, I know I'd have the bigger one but honestly neither of us will use it for more than 8 hours at a stretch!
I did find the 9.2 install on the cd's with the iBook. It's on the repair cd, under install additional software. How odd is that, you'd never find it unless you looked. Are your cd's like that or are they complete 9.2 cd's? You may be able to twist my arm if that's the case, esp if I need to keep the 6500.
Thanks for the offer and glad to know I'm not the only crazy one sitting on the couch with a laptop. Not too good for the posture though LOL

Hi Diane:
I have the same iBook as you. I find that I use it more than my main desktop.....G5 iMac 1.8 gig.....reason is it's so comfortable to use (reclining on the sofa with the news playing on the TV right now). I also treated myself to the $99 Shuffle and I LOVE it! So easy to use and a joy to listen to.....Apple is the 'bomb'! Anyway, the reason for my response, I have a few OS 9 install CD's sitting around from old G4 purchases, if you need one, I'd be more than willing to send one to you. Let me know...no cost involved!

I was thinking iWork, not iLife, oh well. I do have an AT&T wireless card already, I guess I'll wing it when I get there~
Won't work. iBooks don't have pc card slots. Airport Extreme is the only choice, beyond the generally dodgy USB adapters.
(and if that moves you towards a Powerbook, the 12" Powerbooks don't have 'em either)
Thanks, I hadn't realized that! I ended up with the $999 iBook. I had called them earlier in the day and "Dave" said there were a fair number of $799 1ghz machines in the stock room. When we got there however, Dave was busy (the place was packed). I got the absolutely worst person I had ever seen at that store - ever! He looked twice (15 mins each time) and swore that there was only 1 refurbed powerbook back there. All I can say is that it's a good thing I know and love the product, else I would have walked out, that's how bad he was. I just decided it wasn't worth it and went with the new one.
So new iBook, Airport Express and a 512 Shuffle for "the house". Hubby said I would have gotten the Shuffle for my bday but now that I have the 'book, we share the Shuffle LOL.
I am loving the 'book! But, Panther does not come with 9.2 installed for Classic, does it? Any way I can get it off my G4 MDD CD's? I know I have 9.x disks but I don't think I have 9.2 itself <sigh>
Always something! :)
