Aase, I've had two video problems with my G3 900 iBook. First one was a video card recall, the second was the beast just not turning on. A totally black screen could be almost anything.
The easy ones are: - You simply ran out of battery. When the battery gets low enough the Mac will sleep and won't wake until you give it some juice. Usually, however, this scenario occurs after getting messages stating the battery is dying. - Try hooking the iBook up to an external monitor. See if it boots normally and you can use the Mac. The more difficult ones are: - May need to reset the PMU. <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449> - Try starting it up with just the power cord w/ the battery removed. Any lights on the Mac at all (flashing sleep light)? Any light around the power cord connector (colored ring)? Any startup chime?
