As you may recall I just lost the L2 cache on my 400 Mhz Lombard.
I have offers of replacement cards from a few list members but there are a few other symptoms I'm concerned about.
The most notable change is a high pitched whistle when I put the computer to sleep.
I can't hear the noise when I spin down the hard drive.
I've got the speaker volume all the way down.
The noise doesn't change when I remove the battery.
The pitch changes when I unplug the charger (with the battery in).
I'm worried that the noise is the sound of the power management circuitry dying in which case I may not bother replacing the processor.
Has anyone else experienced this noise?
Even better has anyone figured out what causes it?

thanks
