Hi
RAM will make the biggest difference in my experience. Also, if Panther works well for you you may avoid some headaches waiting for a bit - it may not make your system any better and upgrading can cause time consuming issues when it doesn't go smoothly.
Having said that, Tiger is on its way to me now..

Hi all! I have a G3 iBook just bought from a friend. It has 256 MB of SDRAM and system 10.3.9 installed. I am thinking about getting more RAM (I can have up to 640 on this iBook) but I am intrigued by the new system, Tiger, given all that I have read about it. I really can only afford one or the other right now; what would you get first?
