Hi, Friends, I'm hoping to connect my Wallstreet II 233 MHz running OS 9.2.2, to the internet via dialup (Earthlink) using a Belkin 802.11b Network Interface Card in one of the PCMCIA slots. It's called a Wireless Notebook Network Card, Model number F5D6020.
To connect it to the phone line, I have a Lucent Technologies Orinoco Residential Gateway, Model RG-1000, which includes both a 56K, V.90, RJ-11 connector modem and a 10Base-T, RJ-45 Ethernet connection, as well as the original CD, "Orinoco, The New Wavelan", put out by Lucent Technologies in 12/2000. This CD includes a Macintosh driver good from OS 7x to OS 9.0. It's designed for a G3 Powerbook, but may not work with OS 9.2.2. I'd like your recommendations for the best (hopefully free) drivers - and any other necessary software and/or control panels - which I should try to acquire and install for both the Card and the Gateway (base station) to enable me to use this setup. Also, do you know of a link to any instruction set which I can follow to set this up for myself? Not to complicate this request (although I realize it does), I'm hoping soon to upgrade to a larger Hard Drive and install OS 10.3.9, in addition to OS 9.2.2; and hope to be also able to use this hardware setup to go online when booted on OS X. So I'm hoping to also locate setup instructions and software/drivers which will work for me under the newer OS. I assume the drivers and software I need under dial-up will remain the same, except for a change of settings, if I switch over to a DSL service from either Earthlink or Verizon. Or, am I wrong? Thanks for your patience with this complicated request. I couldn't figure any way to make it simpler. . . All the best, stanton -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
