The same thing happened to me (I posted about this previously). I trashed everything I could find related to WMP, downloaded a fresh copy and installed. It still won't play files it played fine before as well as files that play fine on a friend's PowerMac G5 dual 2MHz.

However, if I click on a link on a web site (such as "watch preview now") it opens WMP and plays it just fine. Download the same clip to my hard drive and try playing it, and I get the same error as Andre describes.

15" AlBook 1.25 GHz; used "upgrade" to install Tiger.

Yes, Laurent. I have thrashed preferences and when I tried to reinstall the window says 'not necessary' or something similar, as WMP is already installed. Now I have thrashed everything WMP and downloaded same from the net and installed it. When I now want to play a movie I get the screen but in it a window saying 'The specified stream type is not recognized'. What to do, this same movie played before upgrading to 10.4
