You are looking about $500 to do the upgrades your thinking about. Continue to use your machine as you are and put the money towards a new, at least to you, machine. A quick glance at ebays completed powerbook auctions show alot of decked out 500Mhz Pismos and 400-550Mhz Tibooks going for under $500.
