I've been running Tiger for some time on my PowerBook 17" and have a few
questions for people that are also running it.

First, I have the iChat menu extra. Under Panther, when I would be
available, the menu extra would display my available buddies, would play
sounds when someone would become available or unavailable.

Now, under Tiger, I need to keep iChat (the application) running if I want
to get the same feedback. Checking in Activity Monitor shows me that a
process called "iChatAgent" is not responding. Has anybody else noticed
this?

Another annoying thing I did notice is when I have a Stuffit archive with
the '.sit' extension. I have Stuffit Deluxe installed with the Stuffit
"Archive Via Rename" running. Under Panther, if I would delete the
extension, Stuffit would expand the archive.

Now, under Tiger, when I delete the extension, nothing happens. If I do an
info on the archive file, I see that the extension is hidden in the name
section of the info window. If I uncheck the "Hide extension" checkbox in
the info window, the extension comes back in the Finder. Keeping the Info
window for that file opened, if I then proceed again to delete the
extension, nothing happens but the "Hide extension" checkbox turns itself on
automatically! The only way I can really remove it is by deleting the
extension in the info window. Did anybody notice some similar behavior with
extensions in Tiger? I don't think that the Stuffit AVR is involve because
when I delete the extension in the info window, it just promptly proceeds to
uncompress the archive.
