Hi all,
Just have to say that this is super efficient... I haven't
experienced anything quite like it before... Couldn't be more
happy... I logged into the US Apple web page Friday evening, and
filled in the form. While at work this morning, my call phone rang,
and it was UPS calling to check where I was, wondering where to
deliver the battery (! The norm is more often that they only call if
they don't succeed in delivering at your address). When I said I was
at work, they instantly offered to come there instead of to my home.
When we had a break in our meeting a little while later, our
receptionist came to me with the battery. Since I filled in the form
Friday evening, it actually took only around 25 hours from Apple in
the Netherlands could get the message from the US (Monday morning),
until the battery was delivered in Norway. I must say, I am mighty
impressed. They even shipped UPS Express.
The whole thing was really well done. Easy for anybody to figure out
what to do. Well written instructions, the most important ones even
in Norwegian on a page of it's own, laying on top of everything. The
rest of it was in a little booklet, including phone numbers for where
to call to get them to come get the box for returning the old battery.
They went a little overboard with their "Proforma Invoice" though
(for customs). The papers said 3 was included, and to sign them and
put them inside the pouch on top of the box. The pouch held no less
than 5 invoices, and inside the box I found 5 more... That ought to
be enough... ;-)
When I set in the new battery a while ago, I soon felt the
difference. It really doesn't get anywhere near as hot as the other
one. This whole thing was sure a lesson learned, about following your
instincts... One of the first things I noticed with this iBook, was
that the battery for really hot, and it didn't make sense that it
should be uncomfortable to touch regularly (I even started putting
the laptop on the chair armrest instead of having it on my lap, to
cool it down). I should have called Apple then... I bet many thought
just as me, until things started happening which caused some to
contact Apple to report incidents (fires?)... Real problems could
obviously have been avoided if people like me, who actually did react
that something wasn't right, had contacted them (in my case, 5 months
ago)...
I'm so happy to finally have my iBook back, with the backlight
working as it should! I sure hope the problem won't return again this
time too (Knock on wood!)... If it should happen though, I will have
a serious talk with Apple!!!
Aase :)
