The 16/600 supports IP printing, that's how I have mine set up via
ethernet. You can manually set a IP address using the LaserWriter
Utility from OS9 or Classic, then just set it up in Print Center.
Mine is configure for AppleTalk over Ethernet. I think the part
that is now
missing is file sharing over AppleTalk. Tiger supports only
AppleTalk over
TCP/IP for file sharing.

If file sharing is an issue, I just wrote up some instructions a
couple of days ago for the Powerbooks list....You can connect via IP
from System 7 and 8 up to Tiger, but you can't connect down from
Tiger to System 7 or 8 via AFP/AppleTalk.
So to answer the OP's question, the printer is natively supported
over an ethernet network, it just has to be via IP rather than
AppleTalk. It doesn't need any third party software. All the ports
can be active at the same time.
