In a not so small nutshell, I have a lombard and have installed OS X
via a firewire external HDD. All is grand. I repeated the process on
a slightly smaller (30 vs 20 gig) and it is an abject failure. It
will boot to the grey screen and the Apple logo, then it goes to
slanted line (bar) through a circle. I can boot both HDD via
firewire on my ibook and run the OS just fine. The only difference
that I can tell is that the original HD is a clone of my iBook. The
second HD was a clone of the iBook, but then I formatted and did a
new install of OS X (this HD is for another Lombard). The problem
seems to be the smaller HD, as the larger HD works fine. I suspect
the OS install is the culprit, though I can't tell you why. At any
rate, help would be greatly appreciated.
