The first time I opened my PB G4 it took me quite some time to get the bottom cover off. There are 4 latches, you see 2 of them through the battery compartment. Go on and unlatch them. This will allow you to lift the bottom cover slightly frm the left side. The other two are located on the other side of the front edge (simmetrically to the first two), one around the middle of the optical drive, the other one at the edge of the HD. You have to play quite a bit to get those unlatched, pushing the back cover away from you and slightly to the right and trying to lift it from the edge close to you (back edge). No lifting, no joy, it's crucial.
