In my experience, I never had Tech Tools do much useful for me. Deep zap PRAM in one step, stuff like that, that you can do yourself.
The subset chip test and all that stuff- well it's nice but it's never diagnosed a problem for me. the one time I had a machine with bad RAM on the MB, the RAM test didn't find it except by crashing the machine- which was happening anyway.
Lots of pretty graphs and stats it generates, though. YMMV. This was early OS9.1 era. I saw the Drive Genius website a couple weeks ago- looks interesting.
