That's what I used to do with CCC (the Synch feature was disabled for some reason). And that's why I also switched to SuperDuper! I find it so much faster using Smart Update, since it only has to copy over changed files. Even with a fairly full 80GB drive, we're talking about 20 minutes (including repairing permissions first) vs. several hours.
