I've done this from my 17" PB with 10.4.x and a Cingular Treo 650. I had to download a new bluetooth prc file to enable dialup networking for my Treo, after that it was a matter of pairing the devices up, and configuring internet connect to dial Cingluar's data network.

It took maybe 30 minutes or so to get it all going, and that's because I'm a bit new to bluetooth and doing this all over it.

Hi Gang

Have any of you ever used a cellphone with a Pismo (or any other
Powerbook) to go online out in the wilds whether there's no wireless,
phone jack or LAN point? If so, please let me know how it's done.
What phones, software and connections between the two did you use?

I have both 10.3.9 and 9.1 on my Pismo.

Many thanks

Bruce

I did it a few times with my PowerBook 17" connected over Bluetooth to a Sony Ericson T637 phone. Once you pair the phone with your laptop, the phone
appears as a network interface like the regular internal modem. You
configure it just like you would do for a modem and when you click
"Connect", the laptop establishes the connection with the cellphone which in turn connect to the Internet. Very easy. I have, however, no idea how you would do this from a Pismo. Maybe a Bluetooth USB adapter would work, but I
have no idea.
