I'd say using a snow ABS is a *very* good reason to turn on the firewall. IIRC, what Apple calls a 'firewall' in the ABS is just NAT, and the snow ABS only has WEP encryption (as opposed to WPA in the later base stations), which is no protection at all against a determined hacker.
