EarthLink made some changes months ago, where you had to change the outgoing to smtpauth.earthlink.net in order to make everything work. In the Outgoing Mail Server area, click on the Advanced button and make sure that the MD5 Challenge-Response is selected and your entire email address is in the User Name spot. I see occasional drops, where their servers won't send mail, but I can switch to my own site's servers and that works fine.
