It's just another "give Jobs more money" scheme. He didn't make enough with the iPods, not enough with the Mini. . . not even enough with the Nano.

Oh, so Apple should just stop making anything new?

So, now it's time to up the anti and get Intel in to help. This is a brilliant money move, since now people like me; people who are satisfied with their older machine that runs the newest of the new today, with be forced to upgrade.

What? Change happens. Nothing in this is going to make your Pismo or mine drop dead tomorrow.

Do I understand that if you had had a Lombard instead of a Pismo, you would have given up when 10.4 was released? Or when 8.5 came out and your Mac II no longer worked? Perhaps when 7.6 came out and you could no longer use it with your Mac 128K?

You know, Apple dropped support for the Apple ][ decades ago. I probably should have forgone this entire Mac thing, it's just a passing fad.

...come to think of it, I was forced to buy an Apple ][ AND a disk drive when they came out with DOS3.3!

Damned greedheads!

It's a fact of life that computers become obsolescent. They do so faster than almost any other consumer product, a consequence of their relative youth as a device, and the staggeringly rapid pace of development.

They're not doing this just to force you to buy a new Mac; it's not like OS X runs just fine on a Mac 128K and they're just evil bastards who want you to give them your money.
