Especially when you consider that Office by Microsoft was out for the Mac before it was available for the PC. Microsoft has done some great stuff in putting together the Mac version. I saw a site promoting the new version that's coming out for Windows. Strangely enough it has a lot of the features that the Mac version has had for years. You know how when you open Word, you get that little Window over on the right for formatting? Windows version never had that, you always had to search and eventually find the formatting that you wanted. With the Mac version....it's always been all right there in the formatting window. Now, as I said, the next version for the PC is coming out with something like the Mac version has had since OS 9. Office on the Mac is WAY better than Office on a PC. I've used both. I'll take the mac version any day.

Think we could drop Microsoft Office on those G3s? Nah.

FWIW, Office 2004 runs like a champ on my G3 iBook 700.
I'll stress again that, for the most part, Microsoft apps written for the Mac generally tend to be quite nice - especially when compared with their Windows counterparts.
We'll use the free Corel Word Perfect version 3.5, Abiword, Open Office, whatever is compatible with the OS we are placing. Free is good. Free is especially good for first time users who don't have a computer in the first place because they can't
afford one.

As long as the software does what you need...
cheers,
