Hi,
Tom Baker said that it has SCSI problems.
The external SCSI port in your old 8100 was SCSI-1. The transfer rate is 5
MB/s and it allows, theorically, a 6 meter SCSI chain. Experimentally, I
have seen problems every time that such a chain was longer than 4,5 m.
The Adaptec 2906 is a SCSI-2 board. The transfer rate is 10 MB/s and it
allows, theorically, a 3 meter SCSI chain. Don't forget to add the internal
cable.
Be sure that your internal IBM hard drive has the terminator enabled, that
the 2906 is not internal terminated and that you have a terminator in the
last external device. It will be better if the external terminator is an
active one, Use SCSI cables as short as possible, if your chain is no
longer than 2 m, it should for sure work.
Rgds, Fernando
