What exactly is the text of the error messages you're getting? What happens
if you boot your computer with the OS 8.x startup CD-ROM and then try
updating the apps??? Alternately, are you already running updated versions
of the apps you're trying to update (e.g. one update ran successfully but
subsequent ones don't... thinking twi-light zone perhaps :)?
Seems very odd that if you were to do a *clean* install of the OS (& then
upgrade the OS) + a clean install of the app you wouldn't be able to upgrade
these apps!
