Hi,
I do not use the mac for audio, but I suppose that you problem is
the lack of a quality audio conection.
The MacWelt magazine has reviewed as very good an USB-audio interface from
Roland. It is the Roland UA-30, price 560 DM in Germany, about $250.
It has even optical conexions.
