i've been using one a little, and have tried it with a trackball but i
haven't gotten deeply into it. the imate does come with some software.
i can tell you that in the apple system profiler the imate shows up as
"mouse (imate, usb to adb adapter)" and "keyboard (imate, usb to adb
adapter)", independent of if any thing is plugged into it. seems to
work great with os 9.1, but i don't have os x. according to the manual,
you would use the imate driver and the normal adb driver for the
trackball. i would check the griffin site to see if they've got an
update for x (although you'd also need trackball software for x). other
than that it should be great. one thing i really like is having a power
key on the keyboard again, although i miss the eject key (i've been
using a backup keyboard since a "pepsi syndrome" last week, i'll be
trying the normal keyboard soon, it rinsed out fine). p.s. i've also
found the gport serial adapter to be very useful and compatible with a
"normal" serial port, though i wish it provided a couple of ports.
hopefully i'll have more time to play with my toys soon, i just don't
get much done in summer, and i also had a drive crash so i'm really
behind. actually i've got far too many projects this summer, but it
beats boredom.
