yes, and it is irritating that you can't get some of the g4's without
the silly modem. i was able to sell mine for $30-$40 (i forget), but
it's still irritating (it's very easy to take out). my main use for the
gport is to connect my external modem, which works much better on bad
phone lines, and i like to see the lights, i have detected a successful
intrusion into my hard drive this way. i was sending data for no
apparent reason, afterwards i also found a cookie with the name of my
boot drive, which would have gotten things going faster the next time
they hacked me.
i'm sure either serial adapter will work well, it's an extremely simple
hack, the sellers are making a fortune! i chose griffin primarily
because i was already familiar with them, and i make frequent use of
their monitor data base which is excellent. the other reason i chose
griffin was that i was also getting an imate and some video adapters and
it saved shipping to combine them.
