Wow - it really is a miracle cure! My dad was about to throw out his 
Stylus Photo 700 after buying a Photo 760 (something like that) and gave 
it to me saying 'it's a bit flakey and tends to jam a lot' . I tried it 
and got the same grinding noises that turn ur teeth on edge, and it spat 
magenta ink on my paper, so I found ur mail and dutifully removed the 
top plastic cowling and applied liberal amounts of swing machine oil to 
the bar. Lo and behold it works a dream. Thanks!
