Hi all, I'm new to the list. I'm having problems get my HP 855 Cse to print. I just got a used 300 MHz G3 Beige Desktop, installed OS 9.2.1, then reinstalled the HP drivers (plus updates). I had no problems using this printer on a Performa 6300CD (OS 9.1). I'm get a "serial port is busy" error. Also, the port is sending some garbage to the printer so that it print a few lines of random characters upon startup. I've zapped PRAM, rebuilt the desktop, switched external modem and printer cables between the ports, and nothing helps. The modem is working fine independent of which port it is plugged into. Am I running into an OS 9.2.1 problem or does this sound like a problem with my "new" computer's serial port? Unfortunately, since I couldn't install OS 9.2.1 on the Performa, I have no way of determining whether the OS update killed the printing connection independent of this new computer.
