That is an interesting idea. Has anyone moved Beige G3 innards into a 9600
case? I'd love to have a computer with all the 9600's capabilities and the
Beige G3's speed.

I have not.

This works for the 7200/7500/7600/7300 mobos because the power connector
configurations are quite similar (although they are not identical) and the AV
card is identical.

The Beige G3 mobo has a significantly different power connector configuration
and the Beige G3 mobo has an AV transition card (which is a dummy or is a
modem on some models), which the earlier mobos do not have.

Not withstanding those not insignificant differences, "where there's a will
there's a way".

The only "drop in" is the 7300 mobo into the 8600/9600 case, and that works
only because the 7300 mobo is tolerant of the 8600/9600 power supply's
slightly different connections.

The 7200/7500/7600 mobos have the same number of power supply connectors, but
quite different pinouts.

The Beige G3 mobo has only one power supply connector and its pinout is
dramatically different.

Peter.
