SW from a third party that can be used in a Mac?

No drivers are available, or are they possible, under MacOS.

Perhaps Linux can do it by programmed I/O. Linux requires a special driver
for the Mac version of the Promise card, anyway, so it may be possible to
take a PC version of this same card and program it under Linux.

If so, please indicate the third parties so I can see about dl'ing the SW
and/or contacting them. The card in question is a Rev.1 Ultra 66 for use in a
beige desktop 233 MHz (also Rev.1).

The Promise chip set is modified in several ways for use on a Mac under
MacOS. All of these modifications are so:

1) the card will be seen by the Mac's boot code as a SCSI card, and

2) the firmware on the card will be compatible with the MacOS's SCSI Manager.

As a PC card, the Promise card has none of these capabilities.

FWIW, there are at least three versions of the Promise card:

1) PC only, non-RAID,

2) PC only, RAID,

3) Mac only, implicitly supports RAID.

AFAIK, there is no Mac only, non-RAID version of this card.
