I don't have experience with firewall software on my G4 since I've 
set up my IIci as a firewall/router with NetBSD.  For the cost of two 
Ethernet cards I have an industrial strength firewall running on a 
IIci.  LOL  Set-up can be a pain, but once it's up you're well 
protected.  E-mail me if you want to look into this solution.
