I've had this happen with entourage... It really, really sucks.

Try opening internet explorer first, before you launch outlook or entourage.
Then click the link, and it should be ok.

I kept forgetting, and having these awful hard crashes, so I finally made an
alias to internet explorer in my startup items folder in my system so it
starts up first thing whent he system boots.

Even still, if IE crashes I have to quit entourage, then launch IE and
relaunch my email or it will crash if I click a link. :(
