Actually, according to reports here, even the newest G4 beasties come
equipped with creepy crawly 5400RPM drives which seem to fall over
themselves trying to cope with even my 233MHz G3. So, unless you have a
really fast drive, running at 10,000 RPM or 15,000 RPM, using Ramdisk should
make a difference in most cases.

Fast processors need fast hard drives.
