I can add that the new IBM 60GXP model ATA/100 drives do create data
corruption problems when connected directly to the Rev. 1 Yosemite. I now
use a VST Ultratek ATA/66 controller and the corruption problems have been
resolved. Though I now have the problem that the Ultratek card is not OS X
compatible. So buy wisely. If you want to get an ATA/IDE controller card,
make sure it's OS X compatible, or take a chance on a "solid" company that
has promised OS X support (VST/Smartdisk has not promised same).
