Mark-

I have an older umax scanner also, and as far as I know they are still in
utter limbo. :(

Below is a list of macos x product compatibility (from 5 months ago) and
they basically said they won't even DECIDE if they are going to make drivers
until 30days after the release of macos x, but they basically have said
nothing that I've seen.

There is a petition for getting umax to support their older scanners under
macOS X, I believe they have 730 signatures:

Some people have reported success as far as using vistascan within classic
to access their scanners (3400 was the one he mentioned I believe).

The last thing you can try is an excellent little app called vuescan, which
is a 3rd party application (not free, but not expensive and tyou can test it
with your scanner) that works under OS8-OSX. It supports different SCSI,
film, firewire and USB scanners. You might lose some special features on
your printer, but it really does do a great job and will take care of your
scanning needs (besides OCR) via OS X.

As for omnipage pro, it doesn't look good. It may or may not work in
classic... But it took them a long time just to support OS9, and even then
it seemed like the felt as though they were doing the world a favor... I
don't use it, just have some clients who do (lawyers) so I had to look a lot
of this up for them.
