New Wrinkle: I plugged my powered speakers in the headphone jack and I got sound. I turned down the volume dial on the external speakers and still heard the sound. I even unplugged the power cord from the electrical wall receptacle and I still have sound. It's obviously coming from the speaker built into the Power Mac but I can't find the device in the sound control panel. When I pull the speaker plug from the headphone jack, I lose the sound again.
Original Problem: No sound from built-in speaker. I have a problem with my new G4 that I'd like to resolve before I leave this list. The sound was fine when I started my new G4. It worked all afternoon. Then, I did a system merge to get my old extensions and preferences into my new computer and I lost all sounds from my computer. I get the start up chime and I get sound through the headphone jack, but not the system speaker. I went to the sound control panel and the volume settings were fine. The output tab gave me the option to select the sound output device, but the list it gave me was empty. Resolution attempt: Sound preference file. I went back to my trash and put back the sound preference that was originally in my new system, but that didn't help. I also tried zapping the p-ram. Still no sound. Can anybody here help me? Meanwhile, at least I have a work-around. Thanks in advance, Neil -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
