Actually there are 3 'black curvy' PowerBooks (all G3s) the 'Wallstreet'
was the first and is on a par with the early iBook (apart from the
PCMCIA slot). It's a 1998 laptop so it still has SCSI and stuff like
that. Best avoided IMHO. A lot of people have them and like them but now
they are showing cracks. The 'Lombard' (the one with the bronze k/b).
This also has the same PCMCIA and SCSI as the 'Wallstreet' but has newer
guts and is certified OS X compatible AFAIK. These are good laptops and
are a match for the iceBook. The 'Pismo' was the last G3 PB. It has no
SCSI - instead it was the first laptop with FireWire. It has a large RAM
capacity, fast processors (400-500MHz) and a PCMCIA slot all in the
deal. These are the best non-G4 laptops around and can really stick it
in current day usage. They are a mid-way between the iceBook and the G4
TiBook. Bottom line - iBooks are cheap and cheerful and Powerbooks
(recent ones at least) are fast and pack a bigger punch - at a price.
