Yes I did get this printer to work with OS 9.x. I went ot the Epson site for the driver, and an update which works with system 9.x. First install the driver, and then the update. The process is confusing because what you get is a packed file that calls itself an installer, but only "installs" a folder on the desktop with the real installer inside.
