I am new to this list being as that I don't have a real G3 yet (I have a Sonnett G3 240 in a 7100), but I am ready to break down and buy a new to me Mac and I would appreciate some advice.
A local store has some beige G3 266 DT for $279 and some B&W G3 350 AGP video for $449. I mostly use my computer for the net, very light image manipulations (Graphic Converter and Photoshop LE) and some games. My main complaint with my current set up is Video speed. My 7100 just can't pump the pixels for the 21" monitor I have. Opinions desired-Thanks in advance Should I go the cheap route and plan to upgrade in the future or bite the bullet and get the B&W. If I go the cheap route, IIRC, there was an issue with beige G3s being upgraded to G4 chips. Is this correct? Were there ROM revisions to correct this ( I see postings on the Swap list that specify Rev A or B Roms, is that what this is about? Any other things to consider? With ram and HD prices where they are, I am not worried about them. Thanks, Len -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
